Workshop "Migrant Workers: Protection of Labour Rights and Labour Market Programs"Place and date Venue • Preliminary agenda This event is organized and sponsored by the Labour Program of Human Resources and Social Development Canada, in cooperation with the Secretariat for Labor and Social Welfare of Mexico and the IACML Technical Secretariat of the OAS. This Workshop is an activity of the Inter-American Network for Labor Administration (RIAL), which is the cooperation mechanism of the Inter-American Conference of the Ministers of Labor (IACML) of the OAS. It responds to the recommendation of the authorities of the Conference to follow up on the XIV IACML and IV Summit of the Americas mandates referring to labor rights of migrant workers. In this sense, the Workshop has the following objectives: • To promote dialogue and cooperation among Ministries of Labor of the Americas on the protection of labor rights of migrant workers and on migration processes undertaken by States according to their national legal systems. • To share experiences and programs on the promotion and protection of labor rights of migrant workers and labor market programs, with special emphasis on Canada's temporary foreign workers program. • To identify lessons learned and key guidelines for future inter-American action on this topic. The Workshop is addressed to technical specialists from the Ministries of Labour of the 34 member States of the OAS, from COSATE and CEATAL, and from international organizations and other prominent figures involved in the IACML process.
