Workshops on Knowledge-sharing
The objective of these sub-regional and regional workshops is to strengthen cooperation and the exchange of information and experiences among participating OAS Member States as well as with international organizations.
Workshops on Cultural Information Systems >>
The OAS along with the Department of Canadian Heritage, the National Council for Culture and the Arts of Mexico (CONACULTA); the National Council on Culture and the Arts of Chile (CNCA); and the Andres Bello Agreement (CAB) organized in 2006 a series of t hree sub-regional workshops (one for the Caribbean; one for Central America and one for South America). These workshops focused on sharing the experience of Canada, Mexico and Chile in the development and maintenance of their Cultural Information Systems. Later on, an Inter-agency Synthesis Meeting based on the results of the three sub-regional workshops was co-organized by the Ministry of Culture of Colombia, the OAS and CAB in April 2007.
Rescue and Promotion of the Artisan, Indigenous and Traditional Production >>
The objective of this regional workshop was to share Honduras' experience in rescuing the indigenous artisan tradition and developing mechanisms to support craftspeople in the production and marketing of their products. The workshop took place December 4 - 8, 2006 in Honduras. Twelve participants from all regions were selected through a competitive process.
Community participation in preservation and conservation of cultural heritage
The workshop "Integral Heritage Conservation Projects with Communities", hosted by Mexico's National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH), was held in Mexico City on 19 - 23 September, 2005. The objective of this workshop was to share Mexico's extensive experience in involving communities in the conservation and maintenance of its cultural heritage. Representatives from seven OAS Member States participated.
