Inter-American Committee on Education
The Inter-American Committee on Education (CIE) is a permanent ministerial dialogue mechanism established by Ministers of Education in 2003. The CIE, made up of representatives of the Ministries of Education from the Member States of the OAS, meets in a Plenary Session approximately every 2 years. The Authorities and Executive Committee of the CIE, made up of 3 authorities and 5 sub regional representatives, meets approximately twice per year.
The Inter-American Committee on Education's (CIE) main objective is to strengthen and reinforce Inter-American dialogue in order to support the creation of policies and develop collaborative actions in the area.
Also, the CIE provides follow-up on the mandates of the Summit of the Americas as well as those accords reached in the Meetings of Ministers of Education. In addition, it seeks to identify multilateral initiatives and contributes in the execution of OAS policies dealing with partnerships for Education.
