MISSION
The DTT supports the efforts of the OAS Member States to expand trade opportunities, increase competitiveness and foster economic integration, so as to achieve higher and more sustainable economic growth and prosperity that will in turn serve to create jobs and reduce poverty.
Specialized training for Central American trade officials on how to transform non-conforming measures on services and investment made in their free trade agreements to commitments using the positive list approach as proposed in the Central America-European Union negotiations , in San José , Costa Rica (September 23-25, 2007). Organized with the support of the Ministeries of Foreign Affairs of Costa Rica and Chile
SICE's Trade Policy Developments section centralizes official public documents - including press releases, draft texts of agreements, and supplementary documents - following developments in current trade negotiations in the Americas.

The Trade Division is supporting the set up of the Centre de Facilitation des Investissementsin Haiti.

The Tourism Division will finalize and release the Multi-hazard Contingency Plan Manual for the Caribbean Tourism Sector. This is being developed in collaboration with the Caribbean Disaster Response Agency (CDERA), the Caribbean Tourism Organization and the Caribbean Hotel Association (CHA).

• Participation in the Third Meeting of the Red Latinoamericana para el Desarrollo de la MIPYME Turística, co-sponsored by the Servicio Nacional de Turismo of Chile and the OAS. Santiago, Chile, August 9-10, 2007.
• Seminar for CARICOM Parliamentarians on “Shaping a Trade Agenda to Promote Regional Integration and Competitiveness for CARICOM: The EPA and Other Negotiating Challenges”. Organized by the OAS, the World Bank and the Government of St. Lucia. Held in St. Lucia on May 17, 2007.
In keeping with the objectives of the WTO 2008 Roadmap for Aid for Trade, on June 16-17, 2008 the Department of Trade and Tourism (DTT) and the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development (ICTSD), convened a high-level Symposium on Aid for Trade for the Caribbean in Kingston, Jamaica with Caribbean government officials, private sector representatives and donor agencies.
The Department of Trade and Tourism of the Organization of American States (OAS) will co-host with the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI) the IPRTA Forum Mexico 08 Conference which will be held in the Sheraton Centro Histórico Hotel in Mexico City, Mexico on 9-11 July 2008.
The OAS and the University of the West Indies (Cave Hill) sponsored a Symposium on Caribbean Services Exports.
Institutional Strengthening on Trade-Related Issues for Haiti: Specialized Workshops in French on the WTO Multilateral System and regional trade issues, Market Access and Agriculture, Services, IPR, Investment, and Dispute Settlement in Port-au-Prince, Haiti (June-July 2008) with the support of FEMCIDI and CIDA.
Investment Facilitation for the OECS At the request of members of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States, the DTT is providing assistance to these countries in creating a more streamlined and investor-friendly policy environment.
