WELCOME
As the global trading environment evolves, the Caribbean countries are faced with the prospect of further liberalizing their economies while at the same time their firms face increased competition in the open markets. Recognizing the vulnerabilities of these small economies, assistance in various forms is provided by various countries and international institutions. The Organization of American States, in conjunction with the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development, convened a meeting of both donor agencies and recipient Caribbean countries in an effort to develop a plan of action to ensure that available resources are effectively used in the fulfillment of stated objectives. This symposium allowed for the raising of the awareness on the part of the Caribbean countries regarding the availability of funding, as well as allowing these countries to voice their concerns and needs to the donor agencies.
