Lines of Action
The Lines of Action carried out by the Program are designed to reach both individuals and governments. It aims to strengthen political will in OAS member states and strengthen civil registration systems on one hand, while promoting popular demand for the right to an identity on the other side. To achieve this, the Program's tasks will take place into two main fields:
Conceptual components: criteria, regional case studies, creation of practical tools and applications for the improvement of civil registration systems, and the scope of the right to an identity.
Technical Assistance: projects for the modernization of civil registries, such as those in Honduras, Haiti and Paraguay; registration campaigns; and new technical assistance projects requested on behalf of member states.
The principal sectors currently affected by under-registration are: children, women, Afro-descendants, ethnic minorities, indigenous groups, rural populations and migrants.
