MISSION

The Department of Executive Secretary of the Executive Secretariat for Integral Development (SEDI) offers a set of products and services to the member countries of the Organization of American States (OAS) to support their modernization and increase their effectiveness. This Department identifies those innovative strategies, processes, tools, and frameworks that have been proven effective and productive in promoting development in a particular area. Following the identification of these ‘development solutions’, the Department offers a set of products and services to the interested governments with the objective of advancing programs of horizontal cooperation between them and the identified institutions. These cooperative projects will help governments avoid reinventing the wheel, maximizing their investment and increasing their effectiveness at different levels and in multiple areas. In order to facilitate its role as an international broker, the SEDI created this special Department to promote the creation of strategic alliances across countries and among public and private sector institutions, assisting governments find traditional and non-traditional sources of funding.

Objectives:

•  Facilitate the development of cooperative projects through the creation of strategic alliances among the identified practices’ institutions, the private sector and the member states of the OAS.
•  Identify alternate sources of funding to co-finance the planning and implementation of projects.
•  Obtain, process and disseminate information from innovative practices that have proven successful in promoting the development of the priority areas identified by the governments of the region through various Summits.
